The Browns terminated the contract of veteran RB Jamal Lewis on Wednesday, making the veteran rusher eligible for free agency. Lewis said earlier in the year that he was going to retire, then backed off those comments after the regular season. “I enjoyed getting to know Jamal and having the opportunity to coach him last season,” Browns head coach Eric Mangini said in a statement. “We want to thank him for his contributions to the Cleveland Browns and wish him nothing but the best moving forward. I’m sure he will be successful in whatever he decides to pursue.”
