Jets offensive linemen Alan Faneca and Nick Mangold said rookie RB Shonn Greene played well in 2009, especially the playoffs, and he would do a good job if named the starter in 2010. Thomas Jones might not return to the Jets next year, which would open the door for Greene to become the No. 1 option in New York, and Greene showed his potential with 304 yards on 54 carries (5.6 avg.) and two touchdowns with no fumbles in the postseason. “He’s going to be a good back,” Mangold said. “You can tell by the way he runs. He can run by somebody or run them over. As an offensive lineman you appreciate that.” Added Faneca: “He got his way into the system and started getting some more carries. We really leaned on him during playoff time. He showed what he’s about.”
